This page will soon have the entire ZC swap info for the STD/DX engines to ZC (this also basically works for any MPFI swap like a B16).  I hope to have Honda electrical diagrams and Chilton's info.

Items you will need for the DX/STD swap (not complete):

  • Injector BOX (silver box with fins on the drivers side of the car on the firewall) and the matching wiring harness with the connectors all the way out to the injectors (including the injector connections) from an Si engine (88-91).  Trust me, it's much easier on the wire up to just use the box AND the entire harness down to the injectors.
  • A 100ft Role of stranded 18g wire from Radio Shack (red or black)
  • Electrical Tape
  • Solder and Soldering Iron (really!)
  • Tape and a marker for marking the wire numbers
  • Three ECU plugs from a junk yard from a 99-91 CRX (model doesn't matter since you just need the pins)
  • Throttle body if the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is broken on the ZC engine - from an 88-91 Si

If you are looking for a DX wiring site check here:

I have collected a listing of all the pins and wiring for a MPFI ECU wiring harness.  This listing also includes all the color codes, pictures and where exactly each wire in the harness goes to.  It is in Microsoft Excel format.

Here is the Injector Resistor Box (silver item in the center) and it's accompanying cable that includes the injector plugs.  If you get the entire harness then you won't have as much wiring to do.  Also shown towards the bottom is a cut-off of the ECU plug - you'll need that for the replacement plugs since it's almost impossible to re-use any pins you pull out.
These are the three connectors you will have "left over" after your DX wiring harness swap to the ZC engines.  Left to right are:

* Main & Aux Injector
* Tandem Valve

Here is the wiring harness from a DX engine wired on to a ZC engine.  As you can see some of the wiring was a bit short - just remove the wire loom and tape and stretch it out - it should all fit.
This is a diagram from http://www.quickhonda.net/
that does a pretty good job of describing the wiring.
